
Biography
Andrew C. Ferreira is a graduate of the University of the West Indies and of the Norman Manley Law School, and is admitted to practice in Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago. He is at present a Partner, and the Head of the Commercial and Tax practice at Chancery Chambers in Barbados. He has completed post graduate legal studies in international law and holds membership in several international organisations, including the International Tax Planning Association, the International Fiscal Association and British Institute of International and Comparative Law; and participates at the Joint Colloquium on International Arbitration sponsored under the auspices of the ICC, the AAA and ICSID.
Incidental to his primary areas of legal practice, Andrew Ferreira maintains a specific interest in the law of international private investment, he has developed an extensive knowledge of arbitration process specifically in respect of investment protection claims. He has been involved in international arbitral disputes, as legal advisor to claimants, and as expert witness in respect in arbitration proceedings. He has also been involved in litigation to protect the immunity of arbitrators and preserve the independence of arbitration institutions; and has contributed to the update of laws by way of review and drafting of model legislation for arbitration in Barbados.
